ChromeCast - A fresh leash of life for non-smart BIG LCDs
Well.. though not officially released in india, its still available on amazon. The product shall be imported to india from US. Though it took a while to be delivered,it was worth the wait.
There are many cool things that can be done with a ChromeCast, also gives you options to convert your old LCD tv into a smart TV and believe me with much better internet reception and experience.
I loved the way few apps like youtube,podcast where able to stream content seamlessly onto your TV.While this is just one part of the equation. The other being, ChromeBooks and Chrome browser.
We can easily screencast a browser tab on the TV and view all the content on the TV, which makes family reading easy and mostly a comfortable way to show content to a wider audience.
Imagine yourself planning a vacation and making use of online maps, like googlemaps to plan and sketch the details of the itinerary. And now just imagine if you are able to cast it onto your TV and sit with your family and make a plan. How cool is that ? keep aside cool, how comfortable is that ?
This is just a small application, there are many more that makes the experience much richer !!!!!!!
There are other thirdparty chrome apps, which supports playing video and audio files onto the TV. Its such a great feature also reduces the burden of connecting devices using heavy HDMI cables.
The product is economical and app content is still at a nascent stage,but is very promising. Go get one if you have a old TV which is BIG and not smart.
